Eerste exemplaar EPE! voor Luka Boeve

Luka Boeve ontving vanavond het eerste exemplaar van het fotoboek Epe! uit handen van Jan Paasman en Harold Makaske. In juni werd Luka samen met haar moeder anderhalf uur na de bevalling gefotografeerd. Daarmee is ze de jongste Epenaar in het boek en viel de keus op haar om het eerste exemplaar te mogen ontvangen.

In een korte toelichting zei Makaske dat Luka tot de computergeneratie behoort. Hij verwees naar het politieke besluit om schoolboeken gratis te maken. “Dat leidt er zonder twijfel toe dat op korte termijn het traditionele schoolboek zal verdwijnen. Papier wordt ingeruild voor beeldschermen.” Hij vraagt zich af of de politiek de consequenties van dat besluit wel overziet. “Door de beeldschermcultuur lezen jongeren nu al bijna geen boeken meer. Als ze vervolgens ook op school geen boeken meer zien, zullen ze er nooit meer naar omkijken.” De fotografen betreuren dat. Foto’s bekijken en verhalen lezen op papier is een andere beleving dan ze op een beeldscherm te zien. “Papier is veel minder vluchtig. Foto’s zien er op een beeldscherm bovendien anders uit”, aldus Paasman. Door Luka het eerste exemplaar aan te bieden, hopen de auteurs dat ze later de waarde van boeken zal inzien. Liggend in de armen van haar moeder ontving de ondertussen drieëneenhalve maand oude Luka het officiële eerste exemplaar van Epe! Een fotodocumentaire over het dagelijks leven. Het boek is te koop bij de boekhandels in de regio.
